Kim Burdick research notes on Louise du Pont Crowninshield (photocopies)

1999-2002

The notes consist of photocopies of all surviving letters to and from Louise du Pont Crowninshield (1877-1958) an early advocate of historic preservation. The documents were copied from originals in the Hagley Museum and Library and other repositories. Kim Burdick's notes were used to write several articles, to produce lectures and slide shows, and for a projected film on Crowninshield's role in establishing the historic preservation movement.

Louise Evelina du Pont (1877-1958) was the daughter of Henry A. du Pont (1838-1926) and Pauline Foster du Pont (1849-1902). She was born, raised, and educated at the family estate, Winterthur, north of Wilmington, Delaware. A debutante whose coming-out party was held in New York in 1896, she socialized with members of the city's most exclusive families. Kim Rogers Burdick served as House-Senate Liaison in the Delaware Legislature.
